Description
English: An early Tempo Trax, a locally developed (2WD) off-road vehicle using a Mercedes-Benz OM616 diesel engine.
A decrepit Tempo Trax car in Kudche (pron: Kood-chhay) Village near Pune (Poona) in Western India. This car is basically a knock off version of a Mercedes of identical appearance, and is made in Pune (Poona) by Bajaj Tempo Ltd. (now Force Motors). Like all other products made by Tempo, the Tempo Trax is also poorly engineered, crudely finished, noisy and rickety. However the low cost of purchase and the rugged fram make Tempo vehicles quite popular among the rural folk. (Pune/ Poona, July 2007)
